Sheila Wertheimer has been designing residential and historic
gardens for the past twenty-two years. She opened Wertheimer & Associates in 1988
and has been designing residential gardens and small business landscapes along with researching
the historic landscapes at Harkness Memorial State Park, Florence Griswold Museum, and
The Monte Cristo Cottage. Sheila received a BA Botany from Connecticut College and an
MS in Historic Landscapes and Landscape Design from the University of Connecticut and
a certificate in Japanese Garden Design from the University of Art and Design in Kyoto,
Japan. A strong background in horticulture and a thorough knowledge of plants and their
cultural requirements is a source of pride for Sheila.
Maureen Nicholson has designed landscapes in Delaware and North Carolina before coming
to Connecticut almost twenty years ago. With BS in Horticulture and Landscape Design
from Cornell University and an MLA from the University of Pennsylvania, Maureen has extensive
